The leadership team of A W A K E is a diverse group with various backgrounds. Our team is located across the United States and all are passionate about our mission.  Meet our team below.

Julie Hirschauer

Co-Founder and Chair

Julie has been a successful business owner for the past 24 years. Julie and her husband Dennis have been in Christian Ministry since 1981. She has served on multiple non-profit boards.  Dennis and Julie have four sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Mike Straszheim

Vice Chair

Mike is the proud husband of Beth and father of Emma, Gavin, and Addyson. They live in Centerville, Indiana, and as a family is very active in the local church, community, and school activities. Mike is an entrepreneur and small business owner that loves sharing his excitement for business with others.

Co-Founder and Secretary

Janet Johnson is the proud mother of 5 Christians and now mentoring 13 grandchildren to become Christians. She is a retired educator, administrator, and former partnership Christian Church Children’s Director.

CPA Treasurer

Missy Gauthreaux has owned Accounting Resources and Management Services for 10 years. She volunteers at St Michael’s the Archangel Church as a lector and is also very involved with her daughter’s school and Girl Scouts.

Mary Hobbs is a local business owner in East Tennessee with 18 years of experience in tax preparation, managing cash flow, training, and marketing. She and her husband, Chris, have been searching for a ministry that comes alongside local churches and missionaries who are advancing the kingdom of God.

Mike and Jean Propp

Field Directors

Mike and Jean recently  opened Refuge of Hope, providing emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. They live in Bohol, an island province in the Philippines, along with their two sons, Luke and Mark.
